Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a former chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. Burrell hosts Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and is also the host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network star with her trademark spikey blonde hair and exuberant personality, shares easy techniques to master and reduces anxiety about restaurant food in her series Secrets of a Restaurant. The chef Burrell is also an experienced chef of New York City's best restaurants. She also has learned about Italy's food traditions and its culture and the surrounding landscape. As a youngster, living in the New York's Upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. Her passion was for working in the restaurant business by enrolment at The Culinary Institute of America following her graduation in English as well as Communication at Canisius College, Buffalo NY. She states "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America student. I was awed by every moment." It was impossible to learn, do or work enough. Following her graduation, Chef Burrell was able to spend a full year in Italy attending Italy's Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a one Michelin-starred restaurant located in Tuscany. The time she spent in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate Italian philosophy and culture, and this has left an impression on her culinary perspective. Burrell was the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board members, which strives to improve living conditions for children facing challenges. Burrell also serves as a Juvenile Disease Research Foundation celebrity spokesperson and promotes awareness about the dangers of childhood diabetes. Burrell travels extensively across the nation in her capacity as a mentor as well as a guest speaker where she discusses her career and love of cooking. Anne was always grateful that she was able to share her passion that she had for and her passion for cooking, with people around the world.
